Doniphan West Softball outslugs Blue Valley in Sweep

The Doniphan West softball defeated Blue Valley Varsity Rams 14-0 and 26-12 on Thursday thanks to nine and 13 run innings respectively in the two games of the doubleheader
In Game 1, Doniphan West jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after an RBI double from Brennah Edie, singles from Clara Feighner, Dalainee Waggoner Ella Haynes Brooklyn Denton and Edie again this time pushing 3 across in a 9-run inning.
Doniphan West continued to pour it on with two runs in the bottom of the second with RBI doubles by Brooklyn Rawles and Brooklyn Denton while adding three runs in the bottom of the third on a home run to left field by Delainee Waggoner.
Brenna Gibson started in the circle for Blue Valley. The starting pitcher gave up 14 hits and 14 runs over two innings, striking out two and walking three. Clara Feighner stepped in the circle first for D-West. The starter allowed two hits and no runs over three innings, striking out five and walking one.
Eve Corkill and Bryleigh Brockman each collected one hit for the Lady Rams.
Doniphan West punched out 14 hits in the game. Delainee Waggoner led Doniphan West with four RBI. The right-handed hitter went 3-for-3 on the day. Brooklyn Denton, Brennah Edie, H’Leigha Idol, and Clara Feighner each collected multiple hits for D-West and taking game one 14-0.
Blue Valley's bats came alive a little more in Game 2, but the Lady Rams couldn't quite get the job done and lost 26-12. Doniphan West collected 15 hits, while Blue Valley Varsity Rams had seven.
The Lady Rams jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning after an error scored one run, Mckayla Krause singled, scoring two runs, and one run scored on an error.
Doniphan West tied the game in the bottom of the first, thanks to a single by H’Leigha Idol, and a passed ball allowing Edie to score.
Blue Valley's bats were on fire in the top of the second, scoring eight runs on five hits to take the lead, 12-4. The biggest hit in the inning was a single by Hailey Williams that drove in two.
D- West flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs on three hits to take the lead, 13-12. The highlight coming from a 3 run home run from H'Leigha Idol.
Then in the bottom oof the 4th, Doniphan West scored 13 runs on five hits. RBI singles from Clara Feighner and Jaidyn Smith. Mckayla Krause induced Lydia Keebler to hit into a fielder's choice, but three runs scored. Then bases loaded walks to both Delainee Waggoner and Melissa Paolino. Clara Feighner added another single, this time scoring two runs, Jaidyn Smith singled, scoring one run, Mckayla Krause induced Brennah Edie to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, and Lydia Keebler drew a walk, scoring one run.
Brenna Gibson began the game for Blue Valley. The starter allowed 10 hits and 13 runs (10 earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking three. Brooklyn Denton opened the game for Doniphan West. The right-handed pitcher surrendered six hits and 11 runs (eight earned) over one and one-third innings, striking out two and walking two.
Mckayla Krause led the team with three runs batted in. Eve Corkill went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Blue Valley in hits.
Doniphan West Varsity Mustangs tallied 15 hits in the game. H’Leigha Idol provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Doniphan West with six runs batted in. Idol went 2-for-4 in the game. Clara Feighner went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Doniphan West in hits. Doniphan West also earned10 walks for the game. Delainee Waggoner and Melissa Paolino led the team with two free passes each.
Doniphan West will host Onaga on Monday. Blue Valley will travel to Onaga on Thursday.
