It was hard to find fault in Onaga's first game of the season against Jackson Heights. Bridgett Campbell struck out 13 batters on the day while allowing two hits and one run over five innings while walking none. Jadyn Haskin collected three hits in three at bats, as Onaga defeated Jackson Heights 11-1 on Monday. Haskin hit an inside the park home run in the first inning, doubled in the second inning, and doubled in the third inning.
Onaga got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after MaKenzie Dorsey homered to center field, scoring two runs, Jadyn Haskin hit a solo inside the park home run, Addison DeChant doubled, scoring one run, and Abbie Ringel singled, scoring one run.
Onaga scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning. RBI doubles from MaKenzie Dorsey, Jadyn Haskin and Abbie Ringel each scoring one run, and Bridgett Campbell homered to center field, scoring two runs. Haskin added another run with a second double. In total, Onaga finished with 12 hit. MaKenzie Dorsey led the Lady Buffs with 3 RBI.
The defensive was solid as well, Onaga didn't commit a single error in the field. Ember Conger had the most chances in the field with 13. With the win, Onaga would sweep Jackson Heights. Next up for the Lady Buffaloes will be Marysville.
